Position Description

Title: Disability Service Manager

Reports to: CEO

Status: As per Offer of Employment

Award: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHADS) Award

The Disability Services Manager will be instrumental in facilitating the transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and provides hands-on leadership to support people achieving their goals.


This position is the key link between the team responsible for the design and delivery of services and the CEO who has overall responsibility for the development and delivery of our services. responsible for providing flexible and responsive support to people with disability which promotes choice, self-determination and independence in a range of community settings and in-home.

 

The worker is required to meet the individual needs of people with disability, which may include, but not limited to, assistance with personal care, domestic duties, medication management, transport, meal preparation and shopping, skill development training, social support, and assistance to access and participate in the community. The worker is also responsible for ensuring that all reporting and administrative requirements meet the service and support requirements and are delivered in line with the Inclusive Solutions Australia Group policy and procedures, relevant legislation and NDIS Practice Standards.

Qualifications and Experience

The experience, skills and qualifications required to successfully fulfill this role include:

  • Degree in Human Services or similar qualification and/or five (5) years with significant experience in Disability Services.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing service budgets, government grants and service agreements.

  • Demonstrated experience managing the complexities and requirements of a geographically dispersed and diverse team

  • High level of communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills as well as organisational ability, problem solving, attention to detail and time management skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of NDIS operating models including Supported Independent Living (SIL)

  • A satisfactory Yellow Card (or ability to obtain one) and current driver’s licence are essential.

  • Comprehensive understanding of community networks and relevant legislation, such as the NDIS.

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of individualised assessment approaches.

  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Varied and relevant experience in community services with an emphasis on the design of innovative, flexible and holistic individualised plans and associated costings.

  • Broad knowledge of financial processes and guidelines related to individual funding and budgets and high level conceptual and analytical skills to assess and develop same.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in a range of IT applications.

  • Sound organisational skills with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.

  • Knowledge of and experience in implementing procedural changes

  • Ability to analyses processes and makes recommendations for procedure development and process improvement.

  • Knowledge of key reform agendas currently impacting on the community services sector.

  • A strong motivation and commitment to the principles of the Disability Inclusion Act (2014) and Disability Services Standards

Working Conditions and Expectations

  • The first six (6) months of employment is probationary

  • The position involves evening, overnight, weekend work and sleepovers. Workers may be required to work public holidays.

  • Employment in this position is conditional on the employee maintaining a current First Aid Certificate

  • Employment in this position is conditional on the employee maintaining a current Driver Licence

  • Employment in this position is conditional on the employee having the use of a reliable registered motor vehicle, comprehensively insured. for work related duties.

  • Cleared Working with Children Check and National Criminal Police Record Check

  • Ability to meet deadlines as directed by Senior Management

  • Confidentiality of must be adhered to and as directed by Senior Management, this includes appropriate use of intellectual property.
