John is a Wiradjuri man who spent his childhood and teenage years living in Darlington Point, a small town on the Murrumbidgee River in south western NSW. John holds a Degree in Adult Education. He has an excellent understanding of Indigenous employment, education and training issues - a field where he has several decades of senior public sector management and direct consultancy experience.

John worked on the Indigenous Employment Policy in Canberra for three years until 2000 and, as part of this role, he managed programs dealing directly with Indigenous stakeholders and negotiating Indigenous employment initiatives with employers and industry groups nationally.

Since forming Indigenous Employment Specialists in 2000 ( the former name of Indigenous Success Australia) John has been actively working with both private and public sector employers across the country to recruit and retain Indigenous staff. He has an excellent understanding of current government policy in the Indigenous area and the operation of the employment services industry. His strengths include the ability to work within the policy and program frameworks to constructively engage with diverse stakeholder groups to achieve outcomes for mutual benefit.

Trevor was born in Alice Springs and holds an Economics Honours degree. This is complemented by a Coaching Diploma and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.

Trevor has a strong leadership and management background and he has been involved in training and consultancy work over the past 5 years. He has very good networks across Indigenous Affairs and an excellent understanding of the current policy environment.

Trevor's strategic ability complements his highly practical approach to achieving results. He is an excellent trainer and facilitator with well developed interaction skills, an ability to work toward change in complex situations, and an in-depth understanding of issues in the areas of Indigenous education, employment and training.


General Manager

Ian Martin

Ian originates from Bourke in far west NSW and is one of eight children. Ian completed his high school years at Red Bend Catholic College, Forbes NSW and has a degree in the Social Sciences field from the University of Western Sydney. Ian spent 22 years in various local, state and federal government departments before joining the private sector in October 2005 and joined ISA in January 2007.


Senior Project Manager

Veronica Williams

Veronica grew up in Acacia Ridge on the Southside of Brisbane. Her mother came from Cloncurry, and her father near Beaudesert in South-East QLD. Veronica spent 20 years in Cairns and worked for Social Security and Qld Health. She was involved as an active Board member in many community activities.

More recently she worked in the DEST National Office for Indigenous Education where she won the Secretary’s NAIDOC Award in 2005 for excellence in innovative approaches to Indigenous Australian program delivery.

Veronica undertakes training and facilitation work with Indigenous Success Australia and manages the Indigenous Youth Mobility Program for the Canberra/ACT region. She developed her own workshop around difficult conversations which was initially road tested around Australia within the DEST Indigenous Education Network.

Veronica has completed the ISA accredited Indigenous mentor short course and holds the Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment. She is able to relate well to people at all levels, and particularly Indigenous community members; as well as Indigenous public sector service delivery and program staff.
