Testing and Assessment

Here are a just a few of the faces that have participated in our IYMP testing and assessment.  Are any familiar to you?

Testing and assessment is about:

  • being between the ages of 16-24 years;
  • having identification so that you can travel;
  • bringing you down to Canberra to test your literacy and numeracy so that we can place you in appropriate training or education;
  • listening to Indigenous speakers who talk about what it is like to live in Canberra, be away from home and how they cope;
  • meeting with training people who talk about their programme and how they want to involve you;
  • meeting  AHL staff who talk about  their services;
  • completing form D (but don’t worry because we do that together in Canberra) because Centrelink pays for your travel and
  • after testing and assessment we will send you a letter to let you know if you were successful or not.

Once you do your testing and assessment and you have returned home you think that this program is not for you.  That is okay, we don’t want you getting home sick and you may decide to come back later or go to another IYMP provider because we have IYMP sites all over the country.  Check out the DEST website here.

If you want to know the next testing and assessment dates you can email or ring us.

Even though we try to make it fun it is also serious, we want to help you complete your training or education.

Talk to Veronica or Mitch on 02 62512122 if you want to have a yarn!
